Cardiff-by-the-Sea Teak Furniture Restoration

Cardiff-by-the-Sea is one of the smallest of the coastal North County communities, and its compact size means most homes sit within a few blocks of either the open ocean or the San Elijo Lagoon, both of which shape how teak furniture ages here.

Cottages near Cardiff State Beach and the stretch known as Restaurant Row take strong, steady onshore wind with very little buffering from taller buildings, and we consistently see teak dining sets and benches in these spots develop fast, uniform graying.

On the lagoon side, near San Elijo, humidity lingers longer in the mornings and there's more shade from established landscaping, which creates a different challenge — teak here is more prone to mildew spotting than the dry, wind-scoured cracking we see closer to the water.
