Teak Furniture Restoration Malibu

Restoring teak decks, patio furniture and yacht-style outdoor pieces across Malibu, from the Colony to Point Dume and Malibu Park.
Malibu presents some of the harshest conditions for outdoor teak anywhere along the Southern California coast, largely because so much of its housing sits directly on the sand rather than set back behind a boardwalk or seawall. Properties in the Malibu Colony and along Carbon Beach take on constant direct salt spray, and teak decking there often needs attention on a shorter cycle than furniture even a mile inland.
Point Dume's bluff-top homes add wind to the equation, with strong, steady onshore gusts common along that stretch of coastline. Teak furniture on exposed Point Dume decks tends to dry out and gray in patches depending on how much of the piece faces directly into the prevailing wind versus sitting in a sheltered corner.
Further up the coast toward Malibu Park and the areas near Zuma Beach, homes sit slightly higher and further from the immediate shoreline, which moderates salt exposure somewhat, though the marine layer still rolls in regularly enough that teak left untreated will gray within a season or two.
Malibu is also home to a fair number of boat owners and beach clubs with teak swim platforms, deck trim and dock furniture, which face a different set of demands than residential patio sets. We bring the same on-site, mobile approach to that marine-grade teak as we do to a standard backyard dining set, adjusting our process for the added moisture exposure those pieces see.
We serve the Malibu Colony, Carbon Beach, Point Dume, Malibu Park, and the Zuma Beach area, including marine and dock-adjacent teak.
Most Malibu enquiries fall into one of these. If yours does not, describe it on the phone and we will tell you honestly whether it is our job.

Teak Maintenance Malibu
Knowing which stage you are at makes the estimate conversation much shorter, and often much cheaper than expected.
Colour flattening, water still beading. A clean and a maintenance coat is enough.
Grey across exposed faces, surface still smooth. Clean, light sand, refinish.
Rough texture, raised grain, some spotting. Full multi-grit sanding, then protection rebuilt.
Deep staining, checking, loose joints. Still usually restorable, but budget for carpentry.
There is no single best finish for teak, only the best finish for a piece, an exposure and an appetite for maintenance.
Richest colour, sits in the wood rather than on it, so it can never peel. Shortest refresh interval.
A light protective layer with UV inhibitors. Longer service life, slightly less depth of grain.
Cleaned, sanded, left bare to silver evenly and deliberately. Lowest maintenance and architecturally valid.
Arrival windows kept, days finished when promised, and one point of contact from estimate to handover. Most of what people describe as good service is really just reliability, and that is the part of military life that transfers directly to a trade.
