Teak Restoration Venice

From the Venice Canals to Abbot Kinney courtyards and boardwalk-facing decks, we bring teak furniture back to life without you leaving home.
Venice is one of the more architecturally varied stretches of the Westside coast, and that variety shows up directly in how teak furniture wears here. Homes along the Venice Canals sit inches from still water that reflects heat during the day and holds humidity at night, a combination that keeps teak decking and canal-side benches damp far longer than furniture just a few blocks away on drier ground.
Along Abbot Kinney Boulevard, mixed-use buildings and boutique-adjacent residences often have small rooftop decks or narrow side patios where teak furniture gets heavy foot traffic mixed with direct sun exposure through the day. That combination of use and UV wears the finish down faster than salt air alone would.
The boardwalk-facing homes and short-term rental properties near Ocean Front Walk deal with the most direct salt exposure in the neighborhood, plus higher furniture turnover from renters who may not know teak needs regular oiling. We often restore pieces there that have been neglected for a year or more before an owner notices the graying.
Venice's famous walk streets and alley-access bungalows, meanwhile, present a practical challenge: narrow lots with limited vehicle access. Our on-site process is built for exactly this kind of tight footprint, so we can restore teak furniture without needing to haul it out to a shop.
We work throughout the Venice Canals, Abbot Kinney, Ocean Front Walk, and the walk-street neighborhoods near Rose Avenue.

Teak Maintenance Venice
These get lumped together as 'the teak needs doing', but each has a different cause and a different fix, and treating them the same way is why finishes fail early.
UV oxidation. Shallow, uniform, cosmetic. Cleaning and light sanding resolve it completely.
Uneven absorption, usually from patchy old finish or inconsistent sanding. Needs stripping back to a level surface.
Over-applied oil that never cured. It has to be removed with solvent, not sanded, or it clogs everything.
Eroded early-wood, often from pressure washing. Only progressive sanding will bring the surface back flat.
Teak accepts far less oil than most people expect, because it already contains its own. Anything the wood does not absorb stays on the surface, never fully cures, softens in heat and collects dust.
Depth of colour comes from the number of thin, wiped-back coats, not the thickness of any one of them. Three light applications will always look better and last longer than one heavy one.
This is also the single most common DIY failure we are called to correct, and it is genuinely awkward to fix: the uncured surface has to be dissolved off rather than sanded, because it clogs abrasives instantly.

Colour loss alone is not a reason to refinish. These are the signals that are.
